Alice
Brooke Wilson, Co-Founder and Co-Director, holds
a BA in philosophy from Grinnell College and a
Master's in Sustainable Development from Appalachian
State in Boone, NC. She has six years of experience
in non-profit community development work focused
on community gardens in New York City and sustainable
local agriculture in North Carolina, and previous
professional experience in journalism. She grew
up on the farm where Maverick Farms in now located
and helped found the organization as a way to
model the preservation of family farming in the
region. She is now working on a PhD in cultural
anthropology from the University of North Carolina
at Chapel Hill, with an emphasis on sustainable-food
movements.
